In somewhat of a surprising turn of events, the Steelers had T.J. Watt fall into their laps at pick 30 last night, and wasted no time making him part of the franchise. There have been reports claiming the Cowboys and Packers had major interest in the Wisconsin product, but there were concerns about his medical checks regarding his past knee injuries.

Day two of the NFL Draft (my favorite of the three), the Steelers will look to fill other needs on the team. Let’s break down the Steelers needs and players they may look to select with their three selections tonight:

Safety

Josh Jones, NC State

Marcus Maye, Florida

Marcus Williams, Utah

Justin Evans, Texas A&M

Obi Melifonwu, UConn

The Steelers have made it blatantly obvious that safety is a position they look to address early in the draft. There were reports that Jabrill Peppers would have been the pick if available to the Steelers in the first round.

With the Steelers electing to go EDGE in the first, these four players (all of which were rumored to have some level of interest) are certainly candidates for the Steelers if available. In fact, the Steelers expressed so much interest in Josh Jones, there was a point where I though he might be the pick in the first round for Pittsburgh.
